Mediation in divorce is centered around peaceful, quick resolutions, which in many respects, goes against the very principles of divorce litigation.

Divorces meted out traditionally through the Colorado court systems almost always cause couples to become further and further apart as the adversarial process drags on.

Mediation, on the other hand, brings you together just long enough to make good, fair decisions. In mediation, there are ground rules such as no name calling, no bullying, no cursing, and no yelling, and if need be, we’ll separate you and your spouse in different rooms in order to ensure peaceful communications.

Mediation doesn’t guarantee that there won’t be any conflicts, but its purpose is to keep the discussions calm and peaceful. And conflict doesn’t always have to be heated, you can agree to disagree, and you can agree to meet each other halfway. Not every agreement will give you 100% of what you want, nor will it for your spouse. But throughout the entire process of mediation – as you’re making decisions about your financial future and your children’s welfare – you can be assured that your voice will be heard and the ultimate divisions of assets and parenting responsibilities will be equitable.
